Making Soft Sculptures Influenced by Khalid Mezaina's Work on Old Dubai

In this workshop, participants aims to introduce Emirati designer Khalid Mezaina’s work from Al Haraka Baraka: In movement there is blessing exhibition to the public through this practical workshop.

Participants will prepare printed fabric from Khalid Mezaina’s archive. This fabric will be the base of their experimental work to produce “soft sculptures” which can take the shape of a doll, or any other object. In this workshop they will learn essential doll- making techniques, fabric cutting, turning and stuffing, embellishing - while emphasising creative thinking and aesthetic appreciation of Khalid’s work. By the end of the workshop participants with get to take home their finished creation.
