The Beginning of Thinking is Geometric is an experimental group exhibition that explores the use of geometry as a thinking science concerned with origins and meaning within the work of a diverse group of contemporary artists and designers. Drawing from both Western and Islamic philosophy and theory the exhibition investigates the shift from pragmatic sciences towards artistic inquiries into the use of geometry as a means of articulating logic and mapping space and time. Deployed through a wide spectrum of visual art mediums that range from drawing, installation, informal architecture, computer animation, video, text, functional design and sculpture, the exhibition reflects on historical truths located within geometry. In particular, geometry is applied and reworked within this exhibition both artistically and curatorially in order to measure new visual cultural vocabularies that work with and against harmony, tradition and contemporaneity in pursuit of truth and meaning.
