Maraya Art Park will be featuring Sheikha Maryam bint Sultan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, winner of the inaugural Christo and Jeanne-Claude Award. Presented by the NYU Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) Institute in partnership with the Abu Dhabi Music & Arts Foundation (ADMAF), the Award was established to encourage the creation of new artwork in the UAE and act as a launching pad for visual artists across the Emirates.
Titled 'Mirari', Sheikha Maryam's winning artwork will be showcased at the recently launched Maraya Art Park from the 9th to the 30th of April as part of a tour across the UAE. A highly site-specific installation, 'Mirari' is inspired by the concept of a mirage and was created to produce the illusion of a mirage coming closer. Taking her inspiration from the words of her grandfather, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who said "Those who don't have a past, don't have a future," 'Mirari' consists of 30 reflective triangles that fit together like a puzzle, with the three points on each triangle representing the past, the present, and the future.
