ISLAMOPOLITAN is an exhibition that highlights the universal topic and dialogue between Islam and design, not only from a decorative angle, but from a holistic perspective, this proposed exhibition will feature works by emerging and established UAE based, regional and international designers, whose practices are inspired by Islam as a design subject, rather than religious designation.

Themes pertaining to worship, architecture, and behaviors will be explored both curatorially and artistically, making special focus on practice, construction and etiquette. These topics will be highlighted, discussed, and communicated by and through the selected works taking into consideration the historical point of views presented within Islam. The aim of the exhibition will be to create design journeys that reflect on form and functionality and will showcase newly commissioned and existing works by designers.

Maraya Art Centre in cooperation with local institutions will assist and collaborate in a production program for select proposals supporting designers to realize their concepts.
